The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

Republicans are in lockstep with Donald Trump and his extremist agenda

The Good:

Democrats have been able to work across the aisle to ensure that important legislation continues to move at our State Capitol and we are proud of each and every member who has introduced legislation this session. Here is just a sampling of bills that have made it out of chamber committees:

  • HB2874: Sponsored by Representative Sarah Liguori (LD5), aims to decrease medical fraud.

  • HB2819: Sponsored by Representative Stephanie Stahl Hamilton (LD21), brings down premium costs.

  • HB2842: Sponsored by Representative Stacey Travers (LD12), provides benefit protections for veterans.

  • SB1182: Sponsored by Senator Analise Ortiz (LD24), provides necessary heat protections for construction workers.

The Bad:

Republicans are once again giving tax breaks to the rich by voting SB1085 out of committee. This bill would give tax breaks to private jet owners for jet repairs once again leaving everyday Arizonans to pay the price.

The Ugly:

This week in Washington, Arizona Republicans voted for a budget that cuts Medicare spending and funding for vital healthcare services for Arizonans. Arizona Republicans in the legislature are in lockstep with DC– working to push a budget that would slash funding for the Division of Developmental Disabilities. Whether it's in DC or in our own state capitol, Arizona Republicans are willing to cut our healthcare to fund tax cuts for the wealthy.
