Southern Arizona State House Candidate Hits 5,000 Doors Knocked, Every Precinct Reached
In the sprawling battleground Legislative District 17, candidate Kevin Volk is pounding the pavement to earn every vote
Tucson, Ariz. – On Sunday, September 30, the Democratic nominee for the Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 17 (LD17), Kevin Volk, reached a new campaign milestone of 5,000 doors personally knocked across all 65 district precincts. The district surrounds the north and east sides of the Tucson metro area and includes parts of Pima and Pinal Counties. In 2022, the Democratic and Republican State House candidates were separated by less than one percent of votes cast, and this year’s election is shaping up to be even more competitive.
Earlier this month, Volk completed a 171-mile “Drive Across the District,” in which he traveled the length of LD17 in a single day, making 11 stops and completing a full climb and descent of Mt. Lemmon. The trip a one-day version of what Volk has been doing throughout the campaign: talking to voters and stopping in at local businesses in Vail, Rita Ranch, East Tucson, Tanque Verde, Mt. Lemmon, Saddlebrooke, Catalina, Oro Valley, Dove Mountain, Marana, and Picture Rocks.
“The current representatives take this district for granted– I’ve been to every corner of it this year, talking to voters directly about their concerns and how I can make a difference as their representative,” said Volk. “We’ve gotten great reception, including from independents and Republicans who want to get the focus back on public service.”
The campaign’s strong ground game is complemented by significant fundraising. Volk boasts more campaign funds raised than any other State House candidate this year, which is supporting a robust mail, digital, and broadcast TV program. Last week, Volk and State Senate running mate John McLean unveiled new broadcast ads highlighting reproductive rights and bipartisanship.
Volk added, “With more than a month until Election Day, our work is far from over—we’ve got more folks to win over.”
