RELEASE: Congressman Greg Stanton Endorses Key Battleground Legislative Districts

Arizona Democrats are in prime position to flip the legislature for the first time in 60 years

ARIZONA – Arizona Congressman Greg Stanton (D-AZ 4th District) announced today his endorsement for Democratic nominees in legislative districts 9 and 13. These districts overlap with Congressman Stanton’s congressional 4th district:

  • Lorena Austin (House, LD9)

  • Seth Blattman (House, LD9)

  • Eva Burch (Senate, LD9)

  • Nicholas Gonzales (House, LD13)

  • Brandy Reese (House, LD13)

  • Sharon Winters (Senate, LD13)

“Arizonans want leaders who will put politics aside and do what’s in the best interest of the people they represent – like funding our schools, investing in our infrastructure, and protecting our hard-won rights and freedoms. These candidates will bring deep experience and balanced, principled leadership to the State Legislature, and I’m proud to endorse them,” said Congressman Stanton.

“For the first time in over six decades, Democrats are closer than ever to flipping the state legislature. A Democratic majority would mean real solutions to the issues that Arizonans face today: funded public schools, protection of reproductive rights, and water security,” said ADLCC Chair Senator Priya Sundareshan. “We cannot let politicians that model themselves after the extreme Kari Lake and Donald Trump continue to put our rights and freedoms at risk. I’m grateful we have leaders like Congressman Greg Stanton willing to support our candidates as they fight for a better Arizona.”

Democrats are only two seats away in each chamber from achieving a Democratic majority in the state legislature. Since its inception in 2015, the ADLCC has broken the Republican supermajority at the legislature by using a data-driven strategy, knocking on voters’ doors, and recruiting strong candidates.
