PRESS RELEASE: Legislative Lineup: Dodging Questions and the Freedom to Vote

ARIZONA - Swing district legislative candidates have spent this week lining up to attack the freedom to vote, support extremist organizations, and hide their views from their constituents. Here is a round-up of what Republican candidates have been up to:

Senate:

Josh Barnett (LD 2): Continues to oppose democracy by encouraging the state legislature to appoint Arizona’s electoral votes to Trump regardless of the will of the people.

Carine Werner (LD 4): Chose to hide her political views rather than answer questions from the Scottsdale Independent and Paradise Valley Independent

J.D. Mesnard (LD 13): Wants to add restrictions to the ballot initiative process and make it more difficult for Arizonans to collect ballot initiative signatures.

House:

Ari Bradshaw (LD 2): Tweeted that he is “so happy with what @TPAction_ [Turning Point] is doing!”. Last year, two Turning Point staff members were accused of harassing and pushing a Professor at ASU. Two months ago they “admitted guilt” in the incident. This week, they hosted a Donald Trump rally.

Pamela Carter (LD 4): Joined election deniers Wendy Rogers and Mark Finchem at yesterday’s Trump rally. Rogers and Finchem are also members of the extremist organization the Oath Keepers. She also called them both “wonderful patriots.”

BOTH Jeff Weninger and Julie Willoughby (LD 13) refused to answer questions from the Chandler Independent about why they are running and what their priorities are. Constituents deserve to hear from the candidates who are running to represent them and their communities.

Linda Busam (LD 27): Received an endorsement from one of the signatories of a resolution asking Congress to throw out Arizona’s electoral votes
