PRESS RELEASE: Republican State Senate Candidate Visits Extremist Organization, While Fronting as a “Common Sense” Candidate: Does She Endorse Their Views?
Senate Candidate Carine Werner visits Turning Point USA For the Second Time.
Phoenix - On Friday, May 16th, Republican LD4 State Senate Candidate Carine Werner received a tour of Turning Point USA’s headquarters in Arizona. She is a current member of the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board, and running for the State Senate in LD4. Werner is running on a ticket with current State Representative Matt Gress.
Last year, two Turning Point staff members were accused of harassing and pushing a Professor at ASU. Last month they “admitted guilt” in the incident. The organization operates a watchlist for professors. The organization’s leader has called for violence against transgender Americans and attacked Dr. King and civil rights. They employ one of Arizona’s 11 “fake electors” and employed a Representative accused of signature fraud. Does Cariner Werner endorse those extremist views?
She was given the tour by Aubrey Savela. During the Presidential Preference Election, Savela lied about receiving two ballots, sowing doubt in our election system. Recorder Stephen Richer corrected her, in an incident that went viral as an example of lies spread about the safety and security of our elections.
This isn’t the first time Werner has met with Turning Point USA this year. In February, she met with a different representative from the organization.
As a member of the Scottsdale Unified School Board, Carine was one of two members to vote against extending the contract of the district’s Superintendent, Dr. Menzel. She also criticized the district buying access to e-books for elementary students because there were books on protests included.
LD4 is represented in the Arizona State Senate currently by Democratic Senator Christine Marsh who is running for re-election. The district is expected to be one of the most competitive in the state this November.
