Release: Latino PAC endorses Democratic Legislative Candidates in Key Races

They cite strong contrasts between those they’ve endorsed and their opponents

PHOENIX, AZ – The Latino PAC del Rio Salado announced major endorsements yesterday in battleground races. Lorena Austin (LD9 House), Seth Blattman (LD9 House), Eva Burch (LD9 Senate), and Patty Contreras (LD12 House) received backing.

Latino PAC’s press release asserted that, “The support for Democrats in the Legislative District 9 race is particularly important because their Republican opponents have extreme right-wing views that are not representative of our diverse community. LD9 Republican Candidate, Kathy Pearce, is the sister of and is backed by Russell Pierce. Russell Pierce is the author of discriminatory legislation like SB1070 which targeted the Latino community. He is the only Legislator to be recalled and removed from Office in the State of Arizona.”

Lorena Austin responded to her endorsement by noting, “My fellow candidates and I are honored to receive Latino PAC del Rio Salado’s endorsement. Latinos in Maricopa County deserve better than current Arizona politics. We have a clear opportunity in this election to elect Democrats who lift up Latinos as a core part of what makes our community vibrant and exceptional. I look forward to working with the Latino PAC del Rio Salado to ensure that our community’s input is reflected in the representation we deserve.”
