Press Release: LD4 Democrats Cross $1 Million Raised Milestone

LD4 Democrats celebrate a major fundraising milestone as Election Day nears

Phoenix, Ariz. – Democratic candidates in Legislative District 4 crossed a major fundraising milestone, as together, they surpassed more than $1 million raised. Incumbent State Senator Christine Marsh has raised $369,127. House nominees Karen Gresham raised $353,585 and Kelli Butler raised $360,913 since launching their campaigns in early March. This marks the latest in a string of fundraising victories for the LD4 team as they’ve continued to out-raise their opponents as Election Day nears.

“Arizonans and LD4 have had enough of self-serving politicians who put their own interests ahead of what’s best for our communities,” said Karen Gresham. “Through thousands of conversations with voters, I know they want their elected officials to defend their reproductive freedoms and prioritize public school funding.”

“We are so heartened by the tremendous support of our community,” said Kelli Butler. “LD4 is obviously eager to see more balance and new priorities at the legislature.”

“I am grateful for the generosity of so many people who want to see positive change for Arizona,” said Senator Christine Marsh. “The enthusiasm and support of our campaign is why we will have the opportunity to continue our work building a better Arizona.”

“Arizonans from all corners of the state are fired up and are ready for progress this November. The amount of support that has poured into LD4 and other battleground districts will allow us to keep the momentum going and speak directly with voters,” said Elsa O’Callaghan, Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. “Republicans have held the legislative majority for far too long and have nothing to show for it – Democrats are ready to take back leadership and get things done for Arizonans.”

LD4 is expected to be one of the most competitive districts in Arizona this November and could decide which party controls the legislature. It is currently represented in the Senate by Democrat Christine Marsh. In the House, it is represented by both a Democrat and a Republican. Their opponents—Carine Werner, Representative Matt Gress, and Pamela Carter—are known for opposing reproductive rights and protections for LGBTQ+ Arizonans.
