The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

Anniversary of The Roe v. Wade decison

The Good:

Last week marked the 52nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision to protect the right to abortion and reproductive care. Despite it being overturned in 2022, Democrats in Arizona never stopped fighting to protect our freedom to choose. Last year we passed legislation to get rid of the 1864 abortion ban and in November Arizonans overwhelmingly supported Prop 139 furthering protections for abortion access.

The Bad:

Republicans in the legislature are not wasting any time making it clear that they only care about pushing their extreme agenda. They have refused to budge to create more accountability for the ESA program, further defunding our public schools.

The Ugly:

It’s no surprise that Republicans are picking up right where they left off last year, by introducing bills that target the LGBTQ+ community, attack our voting rights, and put guns on school campuses.

HB2062: Defines biological sex as male or female, based on reproductive traits, and excludes gender identity

HB2022: Would allow K-12 public and private schools to authorize employees to carry firearms on school grounds

HB2017: Would ban voting centers and change precint sizes
