Arizona GOP State Representative Fakes Electoral College Certificate

The US House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the US Capitol, has begun reviewing evidence involving fake electors from across the country. Here, in Arizona, Republican freshman State Representative, Jake Hoffman, declared himself an elector and forged an Electoral College certification sent to the National Archives in December of 2020.

Last week, 12 News’ Brahm Resnik posted a video of journalists asking Rep. Hoffman what authority he had to be an elector, and he replied, “In unprecedented times, unprecedented actions occur… Which is why we felt it appropriate to provide Congress and the vice president with dueling [certificates].”

Arizona Attorney General Mark Bornovich has not referred this case to federal prosecutors; however, Deputy Attorney General of the United States, Lisa Monaco, said in an interview with CNN that the Justice Department is, “going to follow the facts and the law, wherever they lead, to address conduct of any kind, and at any level, that is part of an assault on our democracy.”
