RELEASE: Report Finds Senator Wadsack Fails in Her Duty to Represent Legislative District 17

AZ Mirror Finds That Wadsack Only Met with Constituents Four Times So Far This Year, but Regularly Meets with Special Interest Groups and Lobbyists

PHOENIX, AZ – A report from the Arizona Mirror has found that Senator Justine Wadsack has failed in her commitment to represent the residents of Legislative District 17. During her time in office, she has met with multiple special interest groups, far-right leaders, and lobbyists. However, she scheduled only four meetings with voters in her district this year. Instead of prioritizing meeting with constituents, The Arizona Mirror found that Senator Justine Wadsack scheduled time with:

  • Far-right former State Senator Nancy Barto, the champion of Arizona’s 15-week abortion ban

  • Arizona for Life Coalition

  • AZ GOP Chairman Jeff Dewit

“Senator Justine Wadsack has repeatedly signaled to the residents of LD17 that she has no intention of seriously representing their best interests at the Capitol. By brushing off their concerns and the concerns of groups working to fight gun violence, it’s clear that Senator Wadsack came to the Capitol only to advance her political agenda,” said Elsa O’Callaghan, Executive Director at the Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. “The most important responsibility of a legislator is to listen to their constituents, from all sides of the aisle. Senator Wadsack has proved in her short time in office that she is unwilling to do so. Voters in her district deserve better.”
