RELEASE: Arizona LD 13 Senate Candidate Kristie O’Brien Featured on DLCC’s Top Ten Races for the Month of August List

Arizona — Today, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) released its Top Ten Races for the month of August list, featuring candidates in the most competitive races across the country. The 2026 list features Kristie O’Brien, who is a Democrat running to flip the Arizona State Senate seat in Legislative District 13 this November. O’Brien is also part of ADLCC’s slate of candidates running in key legislative districts that offer the best opportunity to flip the Arizona legislature this November.

Born and raised in the East Valley, Kristie O’Brien is running to represent Legislative District 13, which covers most of the city of Chandler, the entirety of Sun Lakes, and parts of Gilbert, in the Arizona State Senate.

O’Brien is a lawyer-turned-mediator and mom of twins, with a proven record of public service. She worked for the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, got her graduate degree in international security with a focus on counterterrorism and human trafficking, and partnered with local and federal law enforcement on public safety issues. O’Brien is running to tackle Arizona’s affordability crisis, lower utility costs, protect our water, and strengthen public schools by bringing practical, bipartisan leadership to the Legislature.

"All eyes are on Arizona because we have the best opportunity in the country to flip a state legislature this year," said ADLCC Executive Director Sara Kennedy. "We have an incredible slate of candidates, and Kristie O'Brien's inclusion on the DLCC's Top Ten Races list is a testament to the momentum behind our campaign and the opportunity we have to flip these seats in November."
