Release: Democratic Legislative Candidates in Target Districts Expand Organizing Capacity

ADLCC mobilized hundreds of volunteers to knock on doors, make phone calls, and send texts on behalf of candidates running in target legislative races

PHOENIX, AZ – Candidates running in target legislative districts 2, 4, 9, 13, and 16 expanded staff to outpaced previous organizing efforts in ADLCC history. Across these five districts, there were roughly 259,000 doors knocked, 116,000 calls made to voters in the district, and 135,000 texts sent to get out the vote this cycle. This organizing work was accomplished by the largest field staff in ADLCC history, with over twenty-two field organizers in target districts. These extraordinary efforts from candidates and campaigns demonstrate a deep commitment from candidates and continual growth of ADLCC’s organizing capacity.

Some key highlights from ADLCC’s organizing program across districts include:

  • In LD2, candidates and staff scaled up volunteer capacity with over 3,000 hours of volunteer hours completed, 1,600 of which were during GOTV.

  • In LD4, candidates and staff knocked on an astonishing 77,138 doors.

  • In LD9, there were over 105,977  contacts on phones and text messages to voters.

  • In LD13, candidates Cindy Hans and Representative Jennifer Pawlik knocked on 16,092 doors.

  • In LD16, there was significant outreach to rural voters with 28,842 phone calls.

“Legislative races are won in the field margins, and our priorities in the 2022 cycle reflected both candidate and staff dedication to earning every last vote,” said Elsa O’Callaghan, Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. “ADLCC’s investment in organizing capacity and robust field staff are what made the difference in our races, with all five of our target State House candidates winning their races.”
