ICYMI: Arizona Agenda: “Matt Gress Exposed Yet Again for Embellishing His Record”
In Case You Missed It, Matt Gress tweeted out in late September that he received the “Maricopa County Excellence Award” for his work on Preston’s Law. The only problem: “as Axios reported, he was never given an award by the county’s board of supervisors — the certificate of recognition was handed out by a single supervisor, Mark Stewart.”
This is just the latest failed attempt by Matt Gress to mislead voters. Here is the highlight reel of Matt Gress’ controversies/ attempts to lie to voters this cycle:
Arizona Agenda: Gress ad raises eyebrows: Less than a month ago, Matt Gress controversially put out an ad where he takes credit for passing “Ava’s Law” but the bill that created “Ava’s Law” - 2025’s Senate Bill 1106 - was sponsored by Democratic Senator Catherine Miranda.
Arizona Mirror: Criminal probe targets PAC funded by charter school management company: In a bombshell report by the Arizona Mirror, “a political action committee founded by the head of one of Arizona’s largest charter school networks is facing a criminal investigation for allegedly violating campaign finance law by using funds from his company to donate directly to Republican candidates, including Matt Gress.
In August, Matt Gress openly partnered with the Heritage Foundation to “train community members on giving impactful committee testimony at the Arizona Capitol.”
Reminder that the Heritage Foundation proudly led and sponsored Project 2025
In July, public school advocates called for an ethics investigation into Rep. Matt Gress over allegations that his lobbying work in other states has influenced his work at the Arizona Legislature.
FYI: Rep. Gress is a registered lobbyist in New Hampshire, Iowa, Indiana, and Arkansas for Americans for Fair Treatment, an Oklahoma nonprofit that advocates for anti-union legislation, and has supported laws weakening teachers' unions across the country.
