Phoenix – Arizona Democrats have officially won enough seats to flip both the Arizona Senate and Arizona House of Representatives for the first time since 1966. This victory has confirmed that Arizona Democrats have broken the Republican control of the Arizona legislature and delivered a Dem trifecta.
“This victory belongs to the people of Arizona and our incredible slate of battleground candidates who stepped up, but these wins did not happen overnight. They are the result of decades of work by activists and organizers, whose efforts created the conditions for Democrats to win in Arizona.
Starting today, Arizona’s working families officially have a voice at the State Capitol. We take seriously the responsibility that comes with the enormity of the task that lies ahead. The real victory is the work we are now able to accomplish with these wins. We’re ready to hit the ground running to deliver an Arizona working families can afford.
Thank you to the people of Arizona for putting their trust in us and giving us the opportunity to deliver a better future for our state,” said Senator Priya Sundareshan and Rep. Oscar De Los Santos, Co-Chairs of the Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee.
“This historic moment has been years in the making,” said Sara Kennedy, Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. “When the Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee was founded, it had one mission: to flip the Arizona legislature and secure a Democratic majority to move Arizona forward. Today, we have finally achieved the mission of flipping. This victory wouldn't be possible without the hard work of our candidates, volunteers who showed up for years, and partners who have been with us every step of the way.”
Arizona Democrats have won 17 seats in the Senate and 34 in the House. We are still tracking races across the state.
