BREAKING: Arizona Republican Candidates Accept Donations from Illegal Corporate Sources

Leader De Los Santos calls on Republicans to return the money 

Arizona — In a bombshell new report by the Arizona Mirror, “a political action committee founded by the head of one of Arizona’s largest charter school networks is facing a criminal investigation for allegedly violating campaign finance law by using funds from his company to donate directly to Republican candidates.”

Glenn Way’s PAC, Charter One LLC, is accused of illegally funneling corporate money to Republican legislative candidates, donating $25,500 to Republican candidates for the Arizona House of Representatives and Senate in the 2022 and 2024 elections.  

The list of Republican candidates includes incumbents running for re-election and running for higher office:

  • Julie Willoughby (Current State Representative running for State Senate in LD-13)

  • Shawnna Bolick (Incumbent State Senator running for re-election in LD 2)

  • Justin Wilmeth (Incumbent State Representative running for re-election in LD 2)

  • Matt Gress (Incumbent State Representative running for re-election in LD 4)

  • Carine Werner (Incumbent State Senator running for re-election in LD 4)

  • T.J. Shope (Incumbent State Senator running for re-election in LD 16)

    “This damning new report highlights the growing corruption we’re witnessing by Republicans in our legislature,” said ADLCC Co-Chair Rep. Oscar De Los Santos. “Every Republican listed in this probe should return these donations and have to answer for this blatant campaign finance abuse.”
