Fry and Volk set to take on the most extreme legislators in Arizona.

TUCSON, AZCandidates for the legislature Jane Fry and Kevin Volk have announced their campaigns for Legislative District 17.   Kevin Volk is running as a single-shot candidate for the House, taking on Republican incumbents Rachel Jones and Cory McGarr. Jane Fry is running for the State Senate in a match-up against one of Arizona’s most extreme Senators, Justine Wadsack.

“Solving big problems was at the heart of my work for over 20 years in the financial sector,” said Jane Fry,  Democratic candidate for the Senate in Legislative District 17. “I am ready to take that experience to the State Senate, and focus on restoring fiscal accountability and responsibility to get Arizona back on track. As your candidate for the State Senate, I am committed to restoring abortion access, fully funding public schools, securing our water supply, and balancing our books so that Arizona works for everyone. It’s time we took control of Arizona’s future.”

“As a born and raised Tucsonan, I've watched our region and state change over the past few decades as more people have chosen to call Arizona home. The problem is that our current legislature isn't addressing the challenges of a changing economy, like higher costs of living and a growing water crisis. We need new leadership to focus on solutions that will benefit all Arizonans,” said Kevin Volk, Democratic candidate for the House in Legislative District 17. “I've dedicated my career to solving some of our most pressing challenges, from working as a public school teacher to running a small business focused on housing affordability. I'm ready to take my experience to the next level by serving in the legislature to represent the people of Legislative District 17.”

Jane Fry is a mom of two and an accomplished lawyer with an extensive background in financial services. She served as corporate counsel for Charles Schwab &; Co., Inc. for over 20 years, providing legal and governance advice to the company’s Board of Directors and executive management. In 2016, Jane worked on the leadership team of Schwab’s Financial Crimes Unit — addressing anti-money laundering, fraud, scams and other financial risks to the firm and its clients.

Kevin Volk, a Tucson native born in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains, is a community leader, former teacher, and business owner. A magna cum laude graduate in Economics, Kevin began his public service journey as a 5th-grade teacher in San Jose and taught English in Mexico on a Fulbright scholarship. Returning to Arizona, he managed a local retail business and joined the family firm Volk Company. Kevin is a Flinn-Brown Fellow and received the Business Champion for Early Education Award in 2022.
