Boyer ESA Expansion

Republican Senator Paul Boyer is sponsoring a radical expansion of private school vouchers that will be heard in committee today. If passed, SB1657 would become the largest expansion since the Prop 305 proposal was rejected by the voters of Arizona in 2018. As it's written, over 70% of students could be eligible for private school vouchers.

SB1657 would give a voucher to any student who attends a school district that exceeds the Aggregate Expenditure Limit (AEL), implements a student mask mandate, or whose parents are veterans, first responders or health professionals, or to any low-income students.
