A few things you may have missed amongst the headlines...

Farnsworth

In a heated Judiciary committee meeting, over yet another Ugenti-Rita voter suppression bill, LD 12 Senator Eddie Farnsworth became enraged by the strong opposition from the public. A government high school teacher came to the Senate committee meeting Thursday morning to voice his earnest opposition to the bill because he felt it would decrease voter turnout, suppressing the vote. Farnsworth the chairman of the committee and Senate Pro Tempore was already heated following a slew of opposition to the previous Ugenti- Rita elections bills. But once the government teacher uttered "Voter Suppression" Farnsworth had had enough and interjected while the speaker was talking with his rebuttal. When the teacher continued speaking, he told the teacher to stop, "I'm speaking, when the Chairman is speaking, you do not speak." When the teacher continued to speak, he began banging his gavel – nearly breaking it.

Only Four Dem Bills Heard

While it has been a busy legislative session with many bills already heard, it hasn't been quite as busy for the Democratic caucus. This session there have only been FOUR bills heard with a Democrat as the primary sponsor. With slim majorities in the House and Senate, we should see a more equal distribution of legislation in committee, yet once again Republicans are ignoring the will of the people by silencing the thousands of voters who elected the largest democratic caucus since 1966. The disparity is greater than Republican vs Democrat, this is about Arizonans all across our state who are not having their needs addressed because their representative is being silenced. It's time to stop the partisan games and put Arizonans first.
