With Two Days Until Election Day, Democrats Look to Pick Up Two Seats to Flip the Legislature
Effort to achieve Democratic trifecta saw Democrats break records and gain ground
ARIZONA - With only two days until Election Day, here is a look back at some of the key accomplishments of legislative candidates as Democrats look to pick up the two seats needed to take the majority in the legislature.
When it came to fundraising, every Arizona Democrat outraised their Republican opponents in the second quarter, often by wide margins. This includes LD4 House candidates Karen Gresham and Kelli Butler, who set a new second-quarter fundraising record for the state House, and the LD4 slate raised more than $1.4 million.
Campaigns also saw the launch of both cable and broadcast ads highlighting Democrats’ common sense policies compared to Republicans' out-of-touch, extreme policies. Candidates on broadcast include John McLean, Kevin Volk, and Matias Rosales. Incumbent candidates on cable include Representative Judy Schwiebert (LD2), Senator Christine Marsh (LD4), and Representative Keith Seaman (LD16). Other cable ads targeted Matt Gress, Jeff Weninger, and Julie Willoughby for their extreme track record.
Arizona Democrats weren’t satisfied just with running TV ads and out-fundraising opponents. They spent time talking to voters about the issues most important to them. Representatives Schwiebert and Seaman, Senator Marsh, Stacey Seaman, and Karen Gresham participated in an education roundtable and spoke to the pressing issues facing our teachers and students. Kelli Butler and Brandy Reese participated in a reproductive healthcare roundtable with Congressman Ruben Gallego and Senator Patty Murray in an effort to highlight the need for reproductive freedom protections.
