With Eights Days Until Election Day, Watch These Eight Legislative Candidates

Eight highly competitive districts will decide state legislature’s fate

ARIZONA - Arizona Democrats, down only two seats in each chamber of the state legislature from gaining majorities, have been pounding the pavement this year to earn votes and out-fundraising their opponents to propel themselves to a governing trifecta for the first time since 1966. These are the eight districts to watch on election night:

Legislative District 2

Senate Pick-Up: Representative Judy Schwiebert, an incumbent state representative who raised her kids and taught for over 40 years in the district.

Legislative District 4

House Pick-Up: Karen Gresham, President of the Madison Elementary School District Governing Board.

Legislative District 9

Senate Hold: Eva Burch, a nurse, mom and incumbent senator.

Legislative District 13

Senate Pick-Up: Sharon Winters, a former teacher, small business owner, and best-selling author.

Legislative District 16

Senate Pick-Up: Stacey Seaman, a life-long educator and former elementary school music teacher, founder of a non-profit community theater in Casa Grande.

Legislative District 17

House Pick-Up: Kevin Volk, a real estate agent and former public school teacher who has knocked 6,000 doors across all 65 of the district’s precincts.

House Pick-Up: Matias Rosales, a small business owner and 12-year member of the San Luis City Council.
