PRESS RELEASE: Senator Wadsack Posted a Completed Ballot Online that Allegedly Was Not Hers, Arizona Democrats are Demanding Answers

ADLCC Board Co-Chair Priya Sundareshan and Executive Director Elsa O’Callaghan Release the Following Statement:

PHOENIX – This morning, the Arizona Mirror reported that Senator Justine Wadsack posted a photo online what “she claimed was her ballot” but which the Pima County recorder confirms otherwise, “raising questions that she committed a crime by publishing another person’s ballot.” Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Board Co-Chair Priya Sundareshan and Executive Director Elsa O’Callaghan have released the following statements:

“Senator Wadsack has repeatedly called for transparency within our election systems. After posting a ballot online that the Pima County Recorder confirmed was not hers, her latest social media stunt proves that she does not apply the same standard of transparency for herself,” said ADLCC Co-Chair Priya Sundareshan. “I have confidence in our election officials to carry out elections in a secure manner, and Senator Wadsack's actions only stir voters’ confusion in that very secure process. Voters deserve answers.”

“Voters in Legislative District 17 are tired of being represented by someone with a careless disregard for the truth and accountability. This latest display by Senator Wadsack is a pattern of behavior for her as a legislator. She has demonstrated that she is vastly uninformed about how  our elections are administered and how schools are funded,” said Executive Director Elsa O’Callaghan. “That is clear to voters and they are ready to vote her out.”
