DLCC Announces Arizona Spotlight Candidates

Arizona is a top battleground state in 2020

PHOENIX — The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee unveiled its Arizona Spotlight candidates [LINK]. After flipping four seats in the House in 2018, Democrats need just two seats in the House and three seats in the Senate to flip the chambers. Today’s slate of thirteen strong candidates and incumbents are key races that will help to flip both chambers from red to blue this November.

“Flipping our state legislature from red to blue is our top priority in 2020,” said Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Executive Director Charlie Fisher. “By flipping even one chamber, Democrats will have a seat at the table to build a stronger education system, increase access to health care, and protect the state’s independent redistricting committee. We’re excited to work with this incredible slate of candidates to turn our state blue.”

The slate of Spotlight candidates include candidates with a range of experience and includes teachers, business leaders, immigrants, veterans, and other community leaders:

  • Coral Evans (LD-06, House), a third-generation Arizonan who has spent over a decade in public service and plans to reconnect the divide between lawmakers and constituents.
